Carer support

What is an adult placement?

An adult placement is where someone called a carer will support you and give you the care that you need.

There are lots of different types of adult placement.

Your council will talk to you to decide what sort of adult placement is best for you.

Here are some examples of adult placements you could have.

House
  • you could live in your carer’s house with their family. This could be for a short time or a long time
  • you could visit your carer at their home during the day
  • you could visit your carer while the person that usually looks after you is having a short break

Family group

An adult placement means you can be a part of your carer’s family life and learn to be more independent.
