Direct payments (page 1 of 4)

What are direct payments?

Direct payments are when the council pays the money for your social care service straight to you. The amount that they pay you will be an amount that you have both agreed.

Getting advice and information

The council must tell you about direct payments. And, if you decide to get direct payments they will usually put you in touch with someone that can help you with what you need to do.

How can direct payments help me stay in control?

Woman pointing and making a choice

Because the money is paid straight to you it means you can choose and pay for a social care service yourself.

Because you pay for the social care service yourself, you will be in charge. The social care service will work for you and not the council.

This gives you more control over your social care service.
