How can I get involved?

We are working with some national and local organisations including disabled people’s groups who represent people who use services.

Contact the organisations via the link below if you would like to become an Expert by experience:

The organisations will:

  • advertise for and interview people
  • provide training
  • pay their wages and expenses
  • offer support during our inspection work.

Please note we do not employ people directly.

Who are Experts by experience?

Experts by experience are people of all ages, with different impairments and from diverse cultural backgrounds who have experience of using social care services.

What does an Expert by experience do on an inspection?

An Expert by experience will take part in an inspection and talk to the people who use the care service.

They will look at what happens in the service, take some notes, talk to the inspector and write a report about what they have found.
