How to arrange care

If you're looking for a social care service for yourself, a relative or a friend, get advice on where to begin.

Step 1: Contact your council

Your local council should be your starting point for finding the right social care service for you.

Step 2: Get a care assessment

Your council will carry out a care assessment to find out what sort of help you need.

This assessment will involve talking to you, and anyone you choose to speak for you, such as your partner, relatives or friends to find out exactly what care you need.

You have the right to a care assessment no matter what your ability is to pay for any care that you may get in future.
