Health and social care outcomes and accountability framework 2008-11
1 August 2007
Read our response to the Department of Health's Health and
social care outcomes and accountability framework 2008-11.
The framework is very important as it sets out what the
Department of Health thinks should be monitored by Government in
health and social care services.
We understand the Government needs to be able to account
for the use of public resources in social care and health.
However the proposed framework is written from a health
perspective and needs to reflect:
- the wider social services responsibilities of local
councils
- that the independent sector deliver most
care services
- that many people pay for their own care.
Our response urges the Department of Health to base further
development of the proposed framework on the outcome statements in
the White Paper Our health, our care, our Say.
